Therese Rawsthorne Spring Summer 2012

Therese Rawsthorne’s collection for Spring Summer 2012 was based on a photograph of a Japanese prostitute taken in Nagoya by Shomei Tomatshu in 1958. Centred on this theme of Japanese modernity and femininity Therese’s prints were inspired by fallen autumn leaves, known as koyo. In Japan, the fallen leaves of Autumn are what cherry blossoms are to spring. The mid pastels tones and graduations of colour in this original textile design, came alive once printed on the silk crepe de chine.
